The first White & Steele volunteers to enjoy Metro Caring’s new Hunger Relief Center were Keith Olivera & wife Christine, Susan & Mike Portillos, Tracy Zuckett & husband Hugh, Karen Caston & Louie Reininger. Excitement and energy was high as our volunteers took in the beautiful new facility with a huge warehouse, comfortable waiting room and market where the clients could shop as if they were at a supermarket.
“The new facility really helps get the food to those in need. Metro Caring provides a valuable service. It is great that so many at White & Steele are volunteers!” -Keith Olivera
“The building is very nice, large waiting room area with a kid’s area, teaching kitchen upstairs, huge freezer & cooler and nice produce section. The building also has a rooftop garden & they are growing herbs for restaurants in town.” -Karen Caston
“This was my and my husband’s second time volunteering for Metro Caring, & what a difference the new facility makes! There are so many more programs that are & will be offered there, including cooking classes & health & nutrition lectures. We enjoyed our volunteering experience again & will be back for sure.” -Tracy Zuckett
“It was very rewarding volunteering in the new facility. It resembles a mini grocery store & the participants have a more hands-on experience when doing their shopping. The new Metro Caring facility has a wonderful reception room where the participants wait for their turn to shop & they have big plans to utilize the waiting time to teach nutrition & other helpful food ideas. Hopefully, everyone in the firm will take advantage of this great opportunity to volunteer for a quality organization that really does a great job for the community. It is two of my favorite hours." -Louie Reininger
