Adam Goldstein and Nyah Egerton-Francis recently obtained a full defense verdict in a jury trial held in Douglas County, Colorado. White and Steele’s client in the case was a restaurant accused of improperly securing a patio umbrella that came loose in a gust of wind and hit plaintiff in the head, causing a head injury with post-concussive syndrome. Defendant admitted liability for the incident but denied causation of the plaintiff’s injuries and disputed the extent of her injuries. During voir dire, opening statements and again during closing arguments, Plaintiff’s lawyers asked the jury to award her $5,000,000. The jury returned a defense verdict.
